Hi everyone
This is just a quick message to draw your attention of a few changes to the list of species that require RBRs before being accepted into the UAE Bird Database. We review this list every so often, just to ensure that it is up-to-date. The current list is available, as usual at https://www.uaebirding.com/description-species. If you scroll down to the bottom you will see a summary of the most recent changes, which take effect immediately. In general, we do not ask for descriptions once a species has in excess of 20 accepted records, although there are a small number of species which are prone to confusion and for which we ask for RBRs even through there may be more than 20 accepted records. The latter explains the continued presence of, for example, Little Crake and Long-tailed Skua on the list.
If you are lucky enough to observe a species on the RBR-required list, please submit the RBR promptly in the usual way – see https://www.uaebirding.com/report for more information on how to do this. The next circulation is due in December 2023, based on records from the second half of 2023. But please don’t wait until the December to submit!
Thanks
Oscar
